Surbiton HC - Managing Their Whole Club On Teamo

Having produced multiple international athletes over the years, the club currently boasts 25 senior international players (including Olympic gold medalists from Rio 2016) and 20 junior internationals playing in Surbiton colours.

Established in 1874, Surbiton is considered to be the second oldest hockey club in the world and has grown into one of the largest, most successful hockey clubs in the country. The club continues to go from strength to strength, now fielding an impressive 20 senior teams and over 1,000 junior members.

Like all community sports clubs, Surbiton is run by an dedicated team of volunteers. From kit secretary to captains, treasurers to fixtures secretary, without the effort of all these people, the club wouldn’t function.

So to make the lives of all these volunteers easier, Surbiton looked for a solution to save them time and effort. As a result, in preparation for the 2018/19 season, the club started using Teamo.

Now in their fifth season with Teamo, the platform is core to the operations of the club. From day-to-day communications, collecting membership payments and organising the Christmas party, Surbiton really are making the most of the tools available to them. With over 1,600 members of the SHC community using the Surbiton branded app, it has become the central point of information and news.

Member management

Teamo has allowed Surbiton to maintain an up to date, live database of their membership. As part of their new project ‘Masterplan 2024’, the club is undertaking massive developments on the club’s site, including a brand new clubhouse, new floodlights and an extra training pitch. Being able to write their own Teamo registration forms has been a big help in collecting the necessary information for grant and planning applications.

Multiple clubs

With dozens of sports clubs in the area, it’s not uncommon for members to be linked to other clubs too, such as local cricket or netball clubs. Teamo allows members to access unlimited sports clubs, particularly useful for guardians with multiple children playing multiple sports!
